Feng Shui Kua number (also called Gua number) is a unique for each individual number that determines to which group of people (East or West) the person belongs, and what the most favorable directions for him or her are.

Calculating Your Personal Feng Shui Number

Different Feng Shui practitioners use several different methods for calculating a Kua number – some use the same method for both genders. However, it is more appropriate to consider gender as one of the defining elements for determining the Kua number.

So, in order to find out what the person’s Kua number is, you must know the individual’s gender and year of birth. However, the method is based on the Chinese calendar, which is slightly different from the modern one. According to the Chinese calendar, a new year starts in the end of January or the beginning of February. Therefore, if the person was born in that period of the year, make sure to check the individual’s year of birth according to the Chinese calendar.

Calculating Feng Shui Kua Number for Men

Add the two last digits of the year of birth until a single digit is received.
Subtract this digit from 10.
The received numeral is the personal Kua number.

Example. Let’s say a man was born in 1984. 8+4=12. Add 1 and 2 to receive a single digit. That’s 3. Now 10-3=7. So, this man’s Kua number is 7.

Calculating Feng Shui Kua Number for Women

Add the two last digits of the year of birth until a single digit is received.
Add 5 to this digit. If the received numeral consists of 2 digits, add them again till a      single digit is received.
The received numeral is the woman’s personal Kua number.

Example. Let’s say a woman was born in 1985. 8+5=13. Add 1 and 3 to receive a single digit. That’s 4. Now 4+5=9. So, this woman’s Kua number is 9.

How to Deal with Kua Number 5

Number 5 is located in the center of Feng Shui Magic Square, and there is no compass direction that corresponds to this number. Therefore, if the calculation of a man’s Kua number gives 5, that man’s Feng Shui number is 8. For women it is 2.

Kua number is an individual for each person number that defines his or her most favorable and unfavorable directions. The formulas for calculating the Feng Shui number are slightly different for men and women. In addition, the traditional Chinese calendar is somewhat different from the one used in the modern world, so, when determining the Kua number, be sure to consult the Chinese calendar for the correct year of birth.
